Nikke Soni (formally Nikke Nason) grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and has lived in Marquette, Michigan located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for 16 years. Nikke has previously served as the Executive Artistic Director for the Superior Arts Youth Theatre, Arts Administration Director for The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center and Youth Arts Education Director. She received a B.S. in Theatre with a minor of Public Relations from Northern Michigan University and Masters of Public Administration at Northern Michigan University. She also served the Executive/Artistic Director for Lake Superior Youth Theatre and Business Manager for Lake Superior Theatre. Nikke served on several local, regional and statewide boards including on the Board of Directors for Lake Superior Theatre, Board of Directors for the First Nighters Club, and Board of Trustees for Pine Mountain Music Festival. Nikke was appointed by Governor Rick Snyder to the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs in 2013. Nikke wasinvolved with several arts organizations around Marquette producing programs such the Blueberry Dance Festival, Arts in Education Residency programs, The Nutcracker, fund raising fashion shows, and community events.
Nikke values the economic impact and quality of life that the arts bring to the Upper Peninsula. She also appreciates the many arts organizations and programs that give the youth in the area exposure to all areas such as music, dance, opera, theatre, and visual arts.
Nikke currently resides in Appleton, Wisconsin and is a full-time mother to two beautiful children and does freelance writing.
